Congratulations to the Duncanville ISD Elementary
and Secondary Teachers of the Year, Teresa Wastler (Hastings) and
Elisa Guse (Reed)! These fine educators and all campus Teachers
of the Year were honored at an annual Employee Awards Banquet.
In addition, over 80 staff members were recognized for their years
of service, ranging from 5 to 40 years. This year's retirees and
the new Spirit of Champion winners were also honored. It was an
evening to remember!
Texas Teacher of the Year is the highest honor that the State
of Texas can bestow upon a teacher. Conducted by the Texas Education
Agency, the Texas Teacher of the Year Program annually recognizes
and rewards teachers who have demonstrated outstanding leadership
and excellence in teaching. Forty teachers (two from each Regional
Education Service Center) compete for two titles, Texas Elementary
Teacher of the Year and Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year. The
Texas Teachers of the Year become spokespersons for public education
and are honored at a special ceremony in Austin. The Texas Teacher
of the Year becomes a candidate for National Teacher of the Year
honors.
This video highlights the nominees and winners for campus Teacher
of the Year. This video is shown during the annual employee banquet
awards for Duncanville ISD. Vignettes are produced highlighting
each campus nominee for elementary and secondary Teachers of the
Year. Winners are shown at the end of the Banquet featuring additional
highlights of the winners.
